The Conference is the largest gathering of football medicine and science in the world. Bringing together an outstanding selection of internationally recognised experts in Football Medicine and Sports Medicine, to share their knowledge and expertise in a wide range of current concepts and research areas. The aim is, to communicate and get to know each other, and form a global network.
In the XXVIII edition of the International Conference on Sports Rehabilitation and Traumatology, now named “Isokinetic Medical Group Conference”, the Football Medicine Community “Meets the Universe of Sport” to understand the complexity, and the demands of play in numerous other sports practiced worldwide. Comparison of injury risk, epidemiology, athletic development and recovery strategies are all key areas of the Conference.
From the collision sports of American Football and Rugby, throwing sports of Baseball and Cricket, individual accuracy sports such as Tennis and Golf, through to the dynamism of NBA Basketball, every sport has a specificity, that influences injury patterns, injury risk and training demands.
We believe the exchange of information led by those with deep sport specific experience is of paramount importance to increase Sports Medicine and Science knowledge worldwide.
This in accordance with the mission of the Isokinetic Medical Group’s Conference, which is “to inspire the international Sport Medicine Community, through culture, image, atmosphere and organisation, to give their best to improve health of the world”.
The Conference is, above all, an opportunity for discussion and represents an opportunity for the exchange of ideas and experiences. Therefore, in this book, in addition to the abstracts of most of the invited speakers sent to us before the conference, we have inserted all the abstracts that have been accepted for free oral and poster communications.
We are confident from previous experience of editions of this International Conference that this volume will further feed the debate on Sport Medicine, Rehabilitation and Traumatology, and we thank all the Authors who contributed to the realisation of this book.
